It was one of those rare sunny days that was given us that Spring, and I got to spend it in the nicest way possible; photographing these two at a warm and sheltered beach. Spending time with kids can be physically exhausting, photographing them can be too, but equally fun and rewarding! I had been wanting to photograph EDVARD with his mom KAROLINE ever since Edvard's baptism, but the weather was challenging me; I wanted to take the pictures outside and Bergen was heading towards yet another rain record. Then finally this one day in April we managed to do it. I have never seen a child crawl as fast as Ed, still, his skills didn't stand a chance against the local ducks which kept getting away from him, to his frustration and our amusement.
Arboretet, Bergen, April 2015.
HANNE and MAGNUS got married on July 5th, 2014 and their wedding was a true pleasure to photograph! They are both good friends of one of my dear friends, one of my room mates from when I was living in Oslo, so I knew them both from then. Since I knew some of the guest and the couple I got to photograph the wedding from a semi guest perspective, my favorite kind. Meaning I attended the wedding, I ate the delicious dinner, tasted the cake, but spent most of my time photographing. They got married in FREDRIKSTAD, the couples hometown. The ceremony was held in GAMLE GLEMMEN KIRKE and the dinner was hosted at FM08.
Since I moved back to BERGEN in september 2013 I have been working as the manager of a clothing store. The store is called EMIL ..and it is kind of an institution here in BERGEN. When I first moved back I thought they only had one store, but it turned out they had 8 ..so I now work in one of those. When I first applied for the job ..and got it .. I have to admit I was a little SCEPTIC. Not of the workplace itself, but of the clothing I was going to sell. Coming from Bergen I associated the store with my mother.. or maybe even more so with GRANDMOTHERS. It turns out that I am not the only one with this association ..BUT it also turns out that I was wrong ..or at least partly.
A lot of the customers in my store are in fact SENIORS, seniors between 70 and 96 years old. We also have younger customers, but the seniors are without a doubt our most faithful customers. Many of them have been shopping in our stores forever.. and many of them buy almost all their clothes there. This is partly because there are not that many stores left that sell clothes that women their age want to wear ..or actually CAN wear.. skinny jeans and miniskirts, low necklines and see through fabrics are not for everyone. But after working there for a while I realized that their FAITHFULNESS most likely also has to do with the service, which is almost old fashioned, but the good kind of old fashioned. With all the online shopping I think good service is the future of 'in store' shopping.
Anyway, so now to the things I was wrong about; THE CLOTHES. Our stores still sell clothes that older women like; the classics .. and jeans that are high waist and do not cling to your ankles. BUT we also have a lot of nice brands and clothes for women my age ..and younger. A lot of the girls working at our store are in their TWENTIES and they have been pointing out this last season how they really like a lot of the clothes that we have in store right now. This knowledge together with all the answers I get every week from women in their 40's when I address them; 'no I do not need any help, I am just looking for something for my mother' made me suggest to my boss that we should do a PHOTO SHOOT, or a few, to show people that our clothes are for a broader and younger base than the ones we are currently selling to. And I, of course, had an idea of how we should to do it..
In the photos I wanted to focus on the fact that we are a local company ... and I wanted to work with the girls working in our stores, partly because they work here.. but also because they are such beautiful girls ..and I love working with ordinary people in a laidback setting.. And I also wanted them to pick out outfits they felt that they could actually wear, and mix it with their own clothes to make it authentic.
SO these pictures are the result a one great March SUNDAY hanging out in the sun with the sweetest colleagues one can have. In the pictures they are wearing cloths from three of our brands; MEXX, CARLA F and byZEBRA. Thank you Kristin, Caroline and Jannike!
I photographed ANETTE and WESLEY´S wedding in OSLO in August 2013. It was one of those magical Oslo days where the sun is shining and you know something fun will happen, if you only let it. I knew Anette through a mutual friend and it was such a fun experience photographing their beautiful day. The day started at BILLIE BANG'S, a local beauty parlor and barber at Grüneløkka, followed by a beautiful ceremony in GAMLE AKER KIRKE. A red beetle took the happy couple to Gøteborggata where the party and dinner was held in one of OSLO's most stunning apartments. The evening ended with an amazing acoustic surprise concert held by the local and talented band COMET KID.
SYNNØVE and KRISTOFFER got married in April 2012 in BERGEN. More specifically at the University Library, where they first met. It was a beautiful ceremony followed by dinner and party at CHRISTINEGÅRDEN in Sandviken.
I met INGVILD ØSTGÅRD about 12 years ago. We were both students at KIB, an art school in BERGEN. We didn't really hang out that much, but as in all art schools ..or at least the way I imagine it to be, you get to know your fellow students pretty well. We were also both friends with TONE, another classmate of ours, and it was kind of through her we all ended up moving into an apartment at GRUNERLØKKA in OSLO years later. My years in that apartment turned out to be some of the BEST years of my life, much due to the fact that I could not have asked for better ROOMMATES. Through the years I have known INGVILD she has not only grown into a beautiful woman, but also a talented graphic designer and musician. These pictures were taken at Ingvild's old studio in OSLO (she now lives in Trondheim) a beautiful Oslo summer day. You should visit I MADE IT if you want to see more of her graphic work .. or THIS LINK to check out her music.
For a period of a couple of years I did a series of photos for the german Berlin based fashion brand CRUBA. I got to know the brand and the designer Mira von der Osten when I was living in Berlin, specifically, when she made my wedding dress. These pictures I took in connection to the presentation of their SS 2013 collection. As part of the presentation they launched a special project, a collection of SUNGLASSES based on the story of Jens Söring, a German who was currently in prison in the United States.
The firs wedding photos I ever took was my best friend's. She got married in Bergen in 2010. Since I also was maid of honor, I only took the portraits, so that I could enjoy the rest of the wedding. The photos were shot in ALVØEN, right out side of Bergen, before a boat brought us out to an island were the dinner was hosted. A very nice day!
